High Time We Address Chronic Pain, Says a New Report from IOM

Chronic pain is the plight of close to 116 million Americans. Chronic pain affects more people than cancer, heart disease or diabetes.

Chronic pain is painful to the economy as well, translating into productivity losses and healthcare expenses estimated between $560 billion and $635 billion annually.

Pain is a disease by itself, the report said, and is influenced by many factors such as stress, hereditary, depression and other factors.

Pain management is an important subject, and we need healthcare institutions to target the management of pain with more focus.
