Honey can Cure MRSA, Says Teen Genius
There is now evidence offered by a genius 14-year-old that honey could be the solution to destroy the lethal MRSA superbug.
Melbourne high school student, Zaynab Sheriffdeen, has come out with a cure for MRSA superbugs with manuka honey.
This prodigy has conducted a series of tests at Victoria's Infectious Disease Reference Laboratory to find that manuka honey in combination with penicillin antibiotic can arrest MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus).
Bees feeding on the manuka tree make manuka honey. This honey from this tree found in New Zealand and parts of Australia is said to be good in treating MRSA as it can effectively stop the bacteria from attaching itself to tissue.
Earlier research has also shown that manuka honey kills MRSA and a recent study found that it can also prevent MRSA bacteria from becoming resistant to antibiotics.
"Many other diseases may be treated with the same treatment. For example eczema is cured much faster with honey than cream. All of these diseases have cures, we just need to find them," Zaynab Sheriffdeen said.
