Hospital Ropes in �Fake Patients' to Secure Medical College Recognition in Haryana

As per the Medical Council of India, Hospitals must possess a bed strength of 600 along with 70% mandatory occupancy to admit 100 medical students. In a motive to secure recognition as a medical college, a private hospital in Haryana has roped in �fake' patients.

Adesh hospital in Kurukshetra has paid people in nearby villages a sum of 200 rupees to act as patients during the MCI inspection. An employee of the hospital seeking clearance allegedly contacted a former village head J D Singh, and offered Rs 200 each for every person posing as a patient, along with food and refreshments.

‘Adesh Hospital allegedly pays villagers to act as patients by alluring them with a sum of Rs. 200 along with food and refreshments during the MCI inspection.’

The Health Minister Anil Vij said, "A committee for inspection found that some patients appeared to be fakes. We will inquire (into) the entire matter."
