A study of 230 people who fasted for 24 hours showed the innumerable benefits of fasting in improving heart health.

Significantly, cardiologists with the Intermountain Medical Centre who conducted this study, found that fasting caused a 2000% increase in the human growth hormone in the body.

"The body says, I'm not getting food. What do I do about it? The human growth hormone goes up and the fat cells start being burned as fuel," said Dr. Benjamin Horne, Director of Cardiovascular and Genetic Epidemiology.

The benefits of fasting may result in less number of fat cells which reduces insulin resistance. This cuts the risk of diabetes which is a significant trigger for heart disease.
