India Records 70 Fresh COVID-19 Cases
Over the last 24 hours, India has reported an additional 70 COVID-19 cases, contributing to a total caseload of 449,970,33, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The start of the year 2020 has an outbreak of a new coronavirus (2019-nCoV). In early December 2019, a number of pneumonia cases were reported in individuals exposed to a seafood and animal wholesale market in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province, China.
Soon this new virus strain that was not reported in humans previously, was discovered to be the cause of the outbreak and worse was that the pneumonia could turn fatal. Within a month of the outbreak on 30 January the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the 2019-nCoV outbreak a global emergency.

According to the Ministry's data, the death toll rose to 5,31,929 as one more succumbed to the disease. Also in the same period, 47 people recupercated from the disease, pushing total number of recoveries to 4,44,63,580.
According to the Ministry data, over 220.67 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far ().
