Indian Radiographer Sacked by UK Hospital for Inability to Communicate in English

by Kathy Jones on November 24, 2012 at 6:02 PM

The Christie hospital in Manchester has recently sacked an Indian radiographer due to his inability to communicate properly in English.

Ramani Ramaswamy was suspended for a year after serving for six years in the hospital. The event happened after several patients complained that he was unable to speak English clearly and hence his communication was not understood by them.

The Health and Care professions Council also reported that Mr Ramaswamy lacked competence in several other areas of work and that his English had not improved despite his enrolment in extra English classes.

However Mr Ramaswamy has disputed these charges and has said he has no communication issues, "It's totally ridiculous. I previously worked in Malaysia and I was very well respected", he said.
