Indian's First Robotic Liver Transplant Performed on 4-Year-Old Boy

Doctors at a city hospital in Gurgaon announced that they have conducted the country's first robotic liver transplant in order to save the life of a four year old boy suffering from a rare form of genetic liver disorder.

The surgery was conducted at the Medanta Medicity hospital last month with the doctors claiming that it was only the third such surgery in the world.

A Da-Vinci robot was used to perform the surgery with doctors stating that the robot is usually used in kidney, heart and gynecological operations.

The surgery was performed on a boy named Ziad, who had to undergo a transplant after his liver developed cancer and had to be removed. His uncle Rahamatullah donated 20% of his liver to save his nephew's life.
