A case has been registered against a gynecologist and a staff nurse on homicide charges in Uttar Pradesh. A 32-year-old woman was admitted for delivery at a district hospital in Rampur. During delivery, the newborn's head got severed from the body while the doctor and a staff nurse were pulling the baby out of the mother's womb.

Police have arrested the doctor and the nurse. District magistrate Rakesh Kumar Singh visited the hospital and asked Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Jyotsana Pant to probe the incident.

‘A gynecologist and a staff nurse have been arrested on Homicide charges, where a babys head got severed due to forceful pulling during delivery. ’

The baby has died, but the mother's condition is stable, who is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Rampur's Chief Medical Officer S L Saraswat said, "The infant's head got severed from its body as the doctor tried to pull it out. Prima facie, I have been told that the baby had already died inside the womb. Since the labor pain had started, the doctor decided to go for normal delivery instead of a surgery. The exact turn of events would be known after the detailed inquiry by Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Jyotsana Pant,"
