Invuity Waveguide XT Provides a Ray of Light During Minimally Invasive Spinal Procedures

by Kathy Jones on November 14, 2014 at 6:14 PM

San Francisco-based company Invuity has released its new Invuity Waveguide XT System, which promises to light up the spine during minimally invasive spinal surgeries.

The company said that the system delivers omnidirectional light and is a "universal drop-in' illuminator" that can be seamlessly placed in the disc space that is being worked upon by the surgeons without causing any heat in the surrounding tissues.

"The Waveguide XT System is the latest device in our growing photonics-based portfolio designed to bring back this critical sense. In the future, our technology platform will continue to expand into additional modalities to address some of the most significant unmet clinical needs in minimal access surgery," said a statement by Invuity Chief Executive Officer Philip Sawyer.
