iPad Mini With Retina Display' May Not be Launched Next Year

by Kathy Jones on October 5, 2013 at 4:43 PM

Apple has deferred release of the new version of its iPad Mini which was supposed to be launched next year and come with a high-resolution 'retina' display following speculations of delayed certification of panel producers.

The retina display technology is already in use on rival tablets from Google and Amazon and Apple was scheduled to unveil its iPad Mini with the technology this month.

However, due to unclear reasons for the delay, sources expect that the company will either wait until early next year for a full-fledged launch of the gadget or make a retina version only available in limited quantities before the end of the year, News24 reports.

An analyst with Forrester, Frank Gillett said that if Apple doesn't put in retina, there will be howls and a lot of disappointment.

Apple defines retina display as resolution that is detailed enough that the human eye can't detect pixelation.

According to the report, the company has also told suppliers to reduce costs, and a source said that Apple is looking at rolling out an iPad Mini with a smaller 8GB of memory.

Meanwhile, Apple denied commenting on issues related to its product launch.
