Isolation Ward a Must in Private Hospitals: Government

by Vishnuprasadon February 27, 2015 at 8:57 PM

Maharashtra government has decided to make it compulsory for all private hospitals to have an isolation ward. The move comes in view of the rising cases of swine flu in the state.

Addressing a news conference, Sawant said new hospitals with 50 beds or more will not be given permission to operate if they do not make a permanent provision for an isolation ward.

The existing private hospitals have been given time till October to make available an isolation ward, failing which the health department will take action against them, he said.

Sawant, along with minister of state Ram Shinde, principal secretary Sujata Saunik and director of health services Satish Pawar, were in the city to launch a women's health programme at the District Civil Hospital in Aundh.
