Lawmakers and Advocates To Discuss Challenges Of Adults With Autism In Virginia

by Shirley Johanna on September 14, 2015 at 6:55 PM

Challenges faced by adults with autism spectrum disorder will be discussed by advocates and lawmakers in Virginia on September 28.

The event will feature workshops, presentations and informal networking sessions.

The Charlottesville Regional Autism Action Group, representatives from the Commonwealth Autism, Virginia Microboard Association, the Virginia Institute of Autism, and the Region Ten Community Services Board are among the presenters of the event.

The event is expected to shine light on the hurdles adults with autism have to overcome.

"We're incredibly excited to be able to bring together policymakers and advocates to discuss the hurdles adults with autism contend with. Virginia's national ranking for disability services recently moved up from 49th to 41st. We can do a lot better than that," said Mary Anna Dunn of Charlottesville Regional Autism Action Group.
