Highlights:

The holiday season is over and people are getting into the flow of the new year. It is important to remember healthy eating is very important to keep your overall health in check. A post-holiday detox can save you trouble that might come with over-indulgence during the holiday season. This includes digestive issues, heartburn, and acidity.

All the sweets, rich and fatty foods along with cocktails can take a toll on your health, especially if you have been following a strict diet. Studies have shown that a sudden change in diet can sometimes be too much for your digestive system.

‘Detox in the new year in a healthy and sustainable way.’

It can be challenging to resist delicious foods during the holiday season. If you're still feeling drowsy from all the food, then here are a few ways to feel energetic again.

Eat Lots of Fiber

Alcohol and foods high in fat can impair bodily processes. A diet high in fiber aids in body cleansing. It includes foods like guava, oranges, broccoli, cauliflower, radish, and green leafy vegetables that replenish fiber storage and avoid bloating.

Keep Yourself Hydrated

The body's detoxification process is significantly aided by fluid. Hydrating properly with fluids is the simplest approach to detoxify your body after a night of drinking since they include electrolytes that aid in toxin removal. Detox drinks can be consumed, including lemon tea, mint-ginger water, cucumber-lemon water, and vegetable juice.

Move Your Body

Regular exercises, such as yoga or stretching, have a positive impact on the entire body and thus promote blood circulation. You feel better after exercising, and your digestion improves. Increased blood flow also helps to reduce fatigue and lethargy.

Get Some Fresh Air

Despite the cold season, fresh air offers many benefits. During a pleasant walk outside or while relaxing in the sun, vitamin D gets absorbed by the body. This vitamin is essential for the body. The more the body is exposed, the more vitamin D the body will absorb. Take care not to burn yourself if the sun is intense. 20 minutes a day should be sufficient.

Get Enough Sleep

The human body requires adequate sleep to function properly. The body detoxifies and repairs itself during this critical period. It is not exposed to any environmental pollutants during its resting phase. By not eating during this time, the body can digest and regenerate more effectively. The body requires adequate sleep for the smooth functioning of the brain cells so that your body flush out toxins while sleeping. So, have a sound sleep for 7-8 hours to detoxify and recover yourself.

Make Mindful Choices

The best advice to prevent the regret that comes with Christmas overindulgence is to eat mindfully. Keep your meals light and healthy. Avoid baked, packaged, processed and refined foods. Have plenty of proteins and fiber to stay satiated for longer and prevent the urge to eat often. Include foods like ginger, cinnamon, lemon, fennel, cardamom, and others since they help ease digestion.
