Relatives of a 17 year old boy created a ruckus at the Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital in Vasanth Nagar, Bangalore, on Wednesday alleging that the patient had died due to medical negligence.

Joy Rakesh, a BSc student living in Sheshadripuram, was admitted to Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Netralaya in Sheshadripuram after doctors suggested that he should undergo a surgery to remove a growth in his nose. However the 17 year old developed complications during surgery and the doctors advised the family members to take his to the Vasanth Nagar hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The relatives then staged a protest in front of the casualty in the hospital before the administrators made it clear that the hospital was in no way connected to the Sheshadripuram hospital. Joy's uncle, Philips alleged that the hospital had asked them to shift Joy to Vasanth Nagar hospital only to pass the buck.

Hospital administrator, Marleen confirmed the incident saying that the relatives tried to attack the security guards. "Relatives of the deceased thought that the other hospital was our branch. Somehow we managed to convince them. The body was later handed over to the police", she added.
