Mediterranean Diet may Help in Fatty Liver Disease
Mediterranean diet could be used in treating non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis or the fatty liver disease.
An Australian researcher attributed yet another health benefit of following the Mediterranean diet and said that such a diet could be used in treating non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis or the fatty liver disease.
Dr Marno Ryan of St. Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne announced the finding at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and said that Mediterranean diet showed reduction in hepatic fat and increased levels of insulin sensitivity.
"We can now offer patients evidence-based dietary advice that will reduce their risk of diabetes and liver disease even without weight loss", he said. However Dr Ryan was quick to point out that larger scale research has to be conducted as just 12 people participated in the above study.
