A group of firefighters in Melbourne has appealed to the national workplace commission to win back their rights.

United Firefighters Union have argued that firefighters do not have the level of free access to the Internet that the management does, and that it was the brigade's senior officials that were killing time online, the report said.
The report added that an evaluation by fire brigade management last year had established that the top 10 websites being visited by its workers included Facebook, Twitter, nearmap, Google Maps and the Herald Sun.
