After receiving a number of complaints over the side effects of a dietary supplement known as Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS), the US Food and Drug administration has released a general statement warning people that the tonic could be harmful to health.

One of the more popular dietary supplements available on the internet, the Miracle Mineral Solution is sold by a number of companies, sometimes with different labels. However FDA revealed that the solution consists of 28% sodium chlorite.

However when it is mixed with citrus juice, according to the method as directed, the end product is not at all different to industrial bleach and could be dangerous to the health. According to FDA, the side effects range from simple vomiting and nausea to more life threatening effects such as low blood pressure from dehydration.
