Mumbai Gets First Dental Stem Cell Bank

Gencoval Strategic Services Pvt Ltd, an India-based company has partnered with a French company, Institut Clinident Biopharma to set up the first dental stem cell bank in Mumbai.


The new company is called Stemade Biotech. Stem cells have the potential to treat a variety of hereditary illnesses and the dental pulp has been found to be a valuable source of such stem cells.

"Stemade Biotech will extract stem cells from dental pulp (live tissue found inside all healthy tooth) and preserve it under special condition. These stem cells can be used for various therapeutic applications," said Deepak Ghaisas, Chairman of Gencoval Strategic Services Pvt Ltd.

Franck Chaubron, CEO, Institut Clinident Biopharma said the technique was safe and easy, "The novelty of dental stem cells is that they can be easily acquired and preserved for future application purposes," he added.
