Narendra Modi Salutes Specially Abled on 'International Day of Persons With Disabilities'

On the annual observance of 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities', Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted their indomitable spirit, calling them our heroes.

"On 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities', I salute the indomitable spirit of all persons with disabilities. They are our heroes," tweeted PM Modi.

Various specially abled groups organised a candle light demonstration outside the Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Mukul Wasnik's residence on Friday to protest against

"Today is a day to pledge our commitment towards our unwavering support to persons with disabilities and ensuring equal opportunities for them," he added.

"Let us all work together to create a world where persons with disabilities can scale new heights of success without any obstacles," he said in a series of tweetes.

December 3 is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992 that aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.

Specially-Abled People in J-K Get Free Treatment From NGO
A non-government organization in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, has been helping specially-abled children and adults for over 10 years by providing free of cost treatment.

Each year the day is celebrated with a special theme. This year the International Day of Persons with Disabilities will be celebrated with the theme of 'Sustainable development: The promise of technology'.
