National Strategy for HIV/AIDS Updated to 2020 in United States of America

by Reshma Anand on August 6, 2015 at 5:41 PM

National strategy for HIV/AIDS has been updated for 2020 by the White house office. It incorporates work from the HIV care continuum initiative and recommendations by the president's HIV/AIDS working group.

This updated Strategy will sharpen its focus to deliver effective, evidence-based services that help prevent and treat HIV over the next five years.

It will first focus on the following criteria to deliver better care to people living with HIV and to prevent further transmission.

Secondly, it will target resources toward HIV prevention, testing, and treatment interventions that have a proven record of success. It will also support ongoing research to open up new prevention and treatment options.

Finally, it will focus on key populations most at risk for getting affected by HIV. It aims to lower the rates of HIV among many high-risk populations. This means focusing on key populations that are disproportionately impacted by this disease.
