by Dr. Trupti Shirole on July 6, 2015 at 2:30 PM

Over 180 children at an orphanage in Pakistan took ill after consuming 'substandard' food. The children began complaining of stomach pain soon after having breakfast. Some of them even fell unconscious while some started vomiting. They were rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Dr. Ayesha Esani said, "The children were fed substandard meals which led to food poisoning."

PIMS spokesperson Waseem Khwaja said, "The children are suffering from gastro diseases."

Pakistan Sweet Homes patron-in-chief Zamrud Khan said, "The orphans were not victims of malnutrition as the management makes sure that the children were fed with quality food."
