Childhood obesity increases the risk of developing diabetes, social and psychological problems. There are more than 20 factors that cause obesity in children.

The 2012-13 data shows an increase in obesity by 1.3%, with an overall increase in both obesity and overweight by 0.3%. Obesity in children increases the risk of developing diabetes, social and psychological problems, and other serious health issues as adults like cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
A study published in the Pediatrics journal found that childhood abdominal obesity appears to be leveling off after the 30-year increase. Abdominal obesity refers to excessive belly fat and it is the most dangerous form of obesity.
Studies show that there are more than 20 factors that play into the weight of children. Some of the factors include income, access to fast food restaurants, parenting styles, nutrition in home and school, genetics, physical education and body image.
