Pediatric Swine Flu Patient Successfully Treated With Artificial Heart Lung Machine

Doctors in Apollo Children's Hospitals, Chennai have successfully treated a 12 year old swine flu patient using the artificial heart lung machine.


Apollo Children's Hospitals in Chennai and perhaps the only hospital in Chennai to house an Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) machine exclusively for children with successful outcomes. It has helped a critical H1N1 patient Soubhashree survive.

The entire treatment regime could cost about Rs. 10-45 lakhs in India and could cost over Rs. 1 crore abroad.
