Philips Respironics Develops All Nasal PAP Mask

by Savitha C Muppala on June 30, 2013 at 9:59 AM

Victims of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who are prescribed positive airway pressure (PAP) machines do not go ahead with using them as they are strapped on to the face and this makes it quite uneasy.

Further, it is sometimes difficult to find the right size and the mask to fit the patient which could render the therapy ineffective.

Philips Respironics has been mulling over these issues and they have come out with a nasal PAP mask called WISP that should fit most adults. Most importantly the mask helps keep major part of the face exposed.

The WISP uses two reversible soft straps on the side to keep it in place. It does not have a forehead pad and can be easily adjusted by the patient. WISP is a blend of the nasal mask and pillows mask to enable the best in adapting to a variety of patients. Another plus point is that it offers an open field vision.
