Plasma Brush may Help Banish Fear of Pain During Dental Visits

New Plasma Brush promises to help dentists clean and disinfect the cavities for fillings without any pain to the patients

Researchers from the University of Missouri have developed a new Plasma Brush that promises to help dentists clean and disinfect the cavities for fillings without any pain to the patients.

The brush has been developed by the researchers in collaboration with Nanova Inc. The researchers revealed that the brush has provided favorable results in laboratory tests and added that they will soon be conducting human trials before bringing the product into the market.

Hao Li, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering in the MU College of Engineering, said that the new brush will help reduce the price required for replacement fillings. "200 million tooth restorations cost Americans an estimated $50 billion a year, and it is estimated that replacement fillings comprise 75 percent of a dentist's work. The plasma brush would help reduce those costs", Li said.
