Plastic Heart Implanted into a British Man

Forty year old Mathew Green thought it was the end of his world when both ventricles of his heart failed. He needed a heart transplant badly to save his life.

A six hour operation was performed in UK at the Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, Eastern England, and a plastic heart was implanted successfully.

This artificial temporary heart will effectively perform the functions of ventricles and heart valves.



This heart is expected to perform its function for up to three years till such time he gets a heart transplant.
