Reports Suggest Search for Missing MH370 Could Take a Year
An official involved in the search for the missing Malaysian airliner MH370 has said the search could take up to a year.
Angus Houston, speaking in Malaysia, said that he was confident an "effective search" would find the plane, The BBC reports.
Houston said the authorities remain totally committed to finding MH370, but that it could take another eight to 12 months to recover any wreckage.
The statement comes amid talks between senior officials from Malaysia, Australia and China in Canberra next week to decide on the next steps in the search for the missing jetliner.
Houston said that the search will take probably in the order of eight months, maybe eight to 12 months in case of bad weather or other issues.
He assured that with an effective search the aircraft will eventually be found.
