Risk of Birth Defects also Dependant on Profession of Father
Delving into the area of birth defects, one of the primary causes of infant deaths and developmental disabilities in children, researchers found that father's profession had a bearing on the health of the unborn child.
Call it an occupational hazard of the most severe kind, father's profession can be risky for his unborn baby, and can cause birth defects especially if they are hairdressers, artists, and photographers.
Such professions increased the probability of stomach and intestine defects, the research revealed.
If the occupation involved exposure to solvents, for instance the jobs of mechanics, painters, plumbers, artists, and pharmacists, the risk of having a child with a birth defect was higher, especially eyes, neural tube defects and cleft lip and palate defects.
