A South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) telemedicine centre has been launched in Nepal and will link with institutes in Lucknow and Chandigarh.

Indian Ambassador in Nepal Rakesh Sood was present on the occasion when Nepal's caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal declared the center open.
Mr Sood expressed happiness over the establishment of the center, "The Government of India is happy to establish the SAARC telemedicine centre that extends the geographic reach of medical care and provide people in remote and rural areas access to medical specialists," he said.
Prime Minister Nepal said the center would provide access to quality healthcare for people living in remote mountainous areas in the country.
