Saudi King Abdullah Undergoing 'Medical Checks'

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has been reportedly hospitalized for "medical checks". There have been rumours about his deteriorating health.

Gulf News reports that the 91-year-old King's absence from the public gaze and frequent hospitalization has raised concerns about the future leadership of the country.

King Abdullah was operated upon in October 2011 and November 2012 for "ligament slackening" in the upper back.

Abdullah's half brother and crown prince, Salman, 77, is reportedly next in line to the throne.

Following the King's worsening health condition, Salman has been representing him at majority of public events, including the latest Gulf summit in Qatar this month, the report added.
