Graham Miles, who was paralyzed by a massive stroke in 1993, has explained how he had made an almost miraculous recovery.

Miles was 49 when he suffered the stroke and was also diagnosed with the locked-in syndrome soon afterwards. “there was a surprise that I had changed from life in the fast lane to being totally paralysed without even questioning it,” he explained.
He added that his recovery could be explained by the fact that he used some extra capacity of the brain, "I think possibly I may have found a different brain path. The brain isn't totally understood: apparently there is a lot of extra capacity in it and it seems as though I've found some of it."
While he is not totally independent, Miles has managed to make life comfortable for himself, a far cry from the dark day of 1993.
