Police officials have confirmed that some 20 persons were hospitalized for suspected food-poisoning after they ate pizzas and burgers from a bakery in Hyderabad. The incident occurred at a bakery near Hafeezbabanagar area.

Civic officials explained that the allegedly contaminated items were purchased on March 29 and that the victims started suffering from stomach pain, vomiting and loose motion soon after consuming them. "After they fell ill they were admitted to different hospitals in the city since Monday. A team of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) also visited the bakery and collected food samples. The police were informed about the matter only yesterday," a released statement said.

A case has been registered under The Prevention of Food Adulteration Act & Rules (PFA). "No one has been arrested so far. Further investigations are underway," Kanchanbagh police station inspector Ramesh Kotwal said
