Teen With Autism Found in Oakland After Missing From Mahwah

A 14-year-old boy with Autism who was reported missing on Friday from Campgaw Mountain Ski Area was found in Oakland on Saturday.

The boy went missing while he was snow-tubing with his family at Campgaw Mountain Ski Area Resort in Mahwah. He was last seen going up a hill at around 9.30 p.m.

Emergency crews from the state, county and the local law enforcement agencies and as well as volunteers searched for the boy through the night. They worried he might not survive temperatures that dipped 6 degrees with wind chill.

The search came to an end when the boy knocked on the door of an Oakland resident's house at 4.30 a.m on Saturday.

The officials said that "He'd walked quite a distance. We're just very happy he's safe and sound. We were very concerned."
