Tessier Cleft Causes Boy to be Born With No Eyes

by Savitha C Muppala on June 8, 2012 at 8:29 AM

A rare medical disorder, called the Tessier Cleft, has caused a boy to be born with no eyes, and only skin covering the sockets of his eyes.

The boy, Marwanijung, is extremely happy just shining a torch on his left eye. Medical investigation revealed that the boy had an eye under the skin of his left socket. But doctors are unable to remove the skin as the eye below has no lens.

Recalling the days after his birth, the parents explained their extreme sadness at seeing their precious child born with no eyes and only smooth skin to cover his sockets.

'He is eager to see light, and we pray everyday that he could see the light,' said the boy's father.

Doctors are of the opinion that fitment of an artificial eye may be possible only after the age of 16.
