Most teens cannot get past this stage without having acne, yet a new survey has pointed out that overweight girls in their late teens carry double the risk than their normal -weight counterparts to suffer from acne during these tumultuous years.

A recent survey of Norwegian teenagers has seen a connection between obesity and acne. During the study, researchers took into account other factors like diet, smoking, and mental distress. The finding revealed that obese girls carried a double risk of suffering from acne.

Explaining the link, Dr. Jon Halvorsen, a researcher at Oslo University Hospital said, "Maybe changes in the level of insulin and other hormones are altered in overweight adolescents, and this can increase the formation of acne."
