by Julia Samuel on March 3, 2016 at 3:58 PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently received a letter from two children in Kanpur seeking help for their father who suffers from asthma. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) promptly ensured his treatment at the district hospital.

The patient, Saroj Mishra, was admitted to the hospital after the PMO directed the Kanpur District Magistrate (DM) to ensure his proper medical care. The DM, in turn, instructed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the city to ensure his proper treatment.

‘Asthma is a disease of the lungs in which the airways are blocked or narrowed causing difficulty in breathing.’

Mishra, a resident of Naubasta, is a tailor by profession and has been suffering from asthma for the past two years. He has been facing financial problems after which his children wrote to PM Modi asking for medical help for their father.

DM Kaushal Raj Sharma said, "We received a letter for the treatment of Saroj Mishra from the PMO after which I directed the Chief Medical Officer of the city to ensure his proper treatment."

"After receiving letter from the District Magistrate, we admitted him to the district hospital. He has been taken care of and is being provided with all the medical facilities," said CMO Ramayan Prasad.
