A new study by German researchers suggests that Type 1 diabetic children who spend more time in front of television or computer have poorer blood sugar control compared to those who spend less time.

Around 296 children and young adults took part in the study that has been published in the journal Diabetes Care.

The study looked into the TV habits of the participants and found that those who spent more than four hours a day in front of television or computer had higher hemoglobin A1C levels compared to those who did not.

The researchers clarified that while watching TV or sitting in front of a computer had no direct effect on the blood sugar levels, people who lead a sedentary life were more prone to eating snacks and had less time for physical activities.
