Vaccines Block Zika Virus in Mice, Boosting Hopes for Human Jab
Currently, there is no vaccine or specific treatment for the Zika virus disease. Two vaccines gave mice 'complete' Zika protection, revealed researchers. They claimed progress towards the creation of an effective human shield against the brain-damaging virus.
"A single shot of either vaccine provided complete protection against Zika virus in mice," said Dan Barouch, director of the Harvard Medical School's Center for Virology and Vaccine Research, who co-authored a paper in the journal Nature.
