West Bengal Government is Analyzing Maggi Test Reports; Yet to Decide on the Ban

The West Bengal government has collected samples of Maggi noodles and others snacks like Kurkure and Lays, which have been sent for testing to a lab in Kolkatta. A minister informed that the government is in the process of taking a decision on whether or not to ban the popular snack in West Bengal.


Consumer Affairs Minister Sadhan Pande said, "We have sent many samples of the noodles for tests. Some of the reports have arrived which we are analyzing. The process of analyzing the reports is continuing and we will soon arrive at a decision whether it should be banned or not. Besides Maggi, samples of others snacks like Kurkure and Lays have also been sent for tests."

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation which had also sent samples of Maggi noodles for tests said, that reports of the examinations have arrived. Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said, "We had sent a few samples for testing, the reports of which have arrived. We have forwarded the reports to the state government which will take a decision." The mayor, however, did not divulge any of the test findings.

Maker of Maggi noodles, Nestle, continues to maintain that its product is safe for consumption.
