University of Auckland research has revealed that the side a woman chooses to sleep during late pregnancy can affect the risk of having a stillborn baby.

Women must be extra careful on the night before the delivery as the study found that those who sleep on their back or on their right carried a two-fold risk of delivering a stillborn child.

The New Zealand research is mulling over the idea of whether it is appropriate to advice women to sleep on their left side during advanced pregnancy.

The research also found that some of the risk factors for still birth are high for women who sleep during the day in the last month of pregnancy.
