Woman Hands Out Obesity Warning Letters Instead of Candy to Trick-or-Treaters

by Kathy Jones on October 31, 2013 at 6:51 PM

Trick-or-treaters in North Dakota's Fargo town may be in for a surprise this Halloween after a local woman took upon herself to combat rising obesity rate by handing out letters instead of candy for children who she thinks are overweight.

Speaking to the local radio station Y-94 the woman, identified only as Cheryl, said that he intention was to send a message to the parents that their kids are overweight and they should not be sent out asking for free candy just because other kids are doing it.

Terming it as an unhealthy eating habit' the letter urges the parents to become responsible and ration candy to their children during the festive season.

"I just want to send a message to the parents of kids that are really overweight. I think it's just really irresponsible of parents to send them out looking for free candy just because all the other kids are doing it. I'm contributing to their health problems and really, their kids are everybody's kids. It's a whole village", Cheryl told Y-94.
