Anticonvulsants: Medications to treat epilepsyAntidepressants: Medications to treat depression
Aura: A peculiar sensation preceding the appearance of more definite symptoms
Migraines: Symptom complex of periodic headaches, usually temporal and unilateral, often with irritability, nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea, and light sensitivity
Migraine aura: A migraine aura precedes about 15 percent of migraine headaches, warning the patient that an attack is imminent. When it occurs the patient should rest in a quiet, darkened room
Perimenopause: The time just before and immediately after menopause
Prophylactic treatment: Medications given to prevent symptoms from occurring as a precautionary measure as opposed to treating after symptoms occur
