Hyperventilation: Rapid or deep breathing in excess of that needed to supply oxygen to the body.Alveoli: The small units of lungs, these are tiny air sacs where oxygen is transferred into lungs and carbon dioxide waste enters the airways in order to be exhaled out.
Pulmonary function tests: Tests used to measure the ability of the lungs to exchange air.
Pulmonary fibrosis: A condition in which the tissue of the lungs has become thick and scarred, usually because of inflammation caused by lung conditions such as pneumonia or tuberculosis.
Pulmonary embolism: The passage of a blood clot, originating in large veins, into the pulmonary arteries, the major blood vessels supplying oxygen-depleted blood to the lungs.
