Autoimmune disease: Disease where the person's immune system produces proteins (antibodies) that cause damage and destruction of his or her own tissuesInsulin: Hormone secreted by beta cells of the pancreatic islets; essential to metabolize glucose
Autoantibody: Protein produced by the immune system that mistakenly recognizes body's own tissues as foreign and damages and destroys them
Gestational: To do with pregnancy
