Glossary

Cutaneous: Pertaining to the skin.

Mast cell: A type of cell present in most body tissues that releases substances in response to an allergen, which causes symptoms such as inflammation.

Bone marrow: The inner spongy tissue of large bones where red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets are made.


Hematopoesis: The forming of new blood cells.

Lymphoid: Referring to lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell. Also refers to tissue in which lymphocytes develop.

Systemic: Affecting the entire body.
