1. Which doctor should one consult for neuroblastoma?

A pediatrician can be consulted initially. Once diagnosis in confirmed the expertise of many different doctors such as pediatric cancer surgeon, and pediatric radiation oncologist may be required.

2. What is Stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer?

In stage 4 neuroblastoma, the cancer has spread to different parts of the body such as, bone, liver, skin, distant lymph nodes. It cannot be operated upon and is considered high risk.


3. What is spontaneous regression?

In some infants less than 6 months the neuroblastoma tumor resolves on its own without any treatment. This is known as spontaneous regression.

4. What is the prognosis in neuroblastoma cases?

The prognosis of high-risk neuroblastoma still remains poor. Inmore than half of patients there is recurrence of disease despite the development of new treatment options.
