Perilymph Fistula - Glossary

Glossary

Fistula - Abnormal connection between one hollow organ and another or the surface of the skin (cutaneous).

Inner ear - part of the ear that contains both the organ of hearing (the cochlea) and the organ of balance (the labyrinth).

Labyrinth - portion of the inner ear responsible for balance

Magnetic resonance imaging - A noninvasive diagnostic procedure using radio waves and magnetic fields to provide a highly detailed map of an interior structure of the body, such as the brain.

Middle ear - The small cavity between the eardrum and the inner ear; contains three tiny, linked bones that transmit sound to the inner ear.
