Complications of SJS include sepsis, anterior uveitis, corneal ulceration, acute respiratory failure, visual impairment, gastrointestinal ulceration resulting in malnutrition and dehydration, gastrointestinal perforation, scarring of skin and organs like the esophagus and the vagina, multiple organ failure and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
