What are the Symptoms and Signs of Parry-Romberg Syndrome?

Symptoms of Parry-Romberg syndrome include:

• Atrophy (thinning or shrinkage) of the skin, soft tissues, muscle and in some cases cartilage and bone. The tissue degeneration occurs in the region of the face supplied by fifth cranial nerve (trigeminal nerve). This may result in sunken eyes or cheeks
• Hypoplasia or underdevelopment of a tissue or an organ

• Deviation of the nose or mouth towards

  the affected side

• Difficulty in opening and closing the jaws
• Malocclusion or abnormal appearance of teeth
• Deterioration of vision
• Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation
• Trigeminal neuralgia
• Facial hair may fall out or turn white
• Migraines
• Seizures
• Anxiety and depression
