What are the Symptoms and Signs of Pneumonitis?
The most common symptom is shortness of breath and cough. If not treated, the condition becomes progressive and chronic. Commonly reported symptoms include -- Shortness of breath
- Poor exercise tolerance
- Cough
- Tiredness and lethargy
- Loss of appetite
- Unintentional weight loss
- Clubbing of fingers
- Bluish discoloration of skin and mucous membranes (cyanosis) due to poor tissue oxygenation
What are the Complications of Pneumonitis?
Undiagnosed and untreated may be associated with the following complications- Scarring of lung tissue and stiff lung (pulmonary fibrosis)
- Recurrent respiratory infections
- Chronic obstructive lung disease
- Right heart failure
- Respiratory failure
- Death
